Amsterdam is known to be a city that is very pleasant for visitors, as most of the touristic attractions can be found in the old city centre. For you that is even more the case, as you are right at the heart of it. Firstly, you are situated at one of the nicest canals of Amsterdam, Singel. It was one of the first to be dug out back in the fifteenth century, from where most ship would sail of to London, an important business partner of the Dutch. An interesting recommendation would have to be café Hoppe, located just on the other side of the canal. No loud music, but an authentic Dutch atmosphere in this lovely establishment. If you walk a bit further to the west you will arrive at the famous Leidseplein. This city square is known for its great variety of night life, whether you want to catch a concert at Paradiso, have a beer at Oesterbar, or dance until you drop at Blinq: it can all be found at Leidseplein. A bit more west you can find the Museumplein with the well-known museums Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. The other great thing is that the public transportation is excellent, so should you wish to travel by tram, hop on, and you will be anywhere in the city within a few moments. |
